Straight answers about searching WrenSong, what the Trusted badge means, WrenSong Care Reports, and claiming a facility.
Searching WrenSong
Is WrenSong really free to search?
Yes. Searching every licensed facility, opening a facility's page, reviewing its inspection and enforcement history, and messaging it directly are all free — no account required to start. The only things WrenSong ever charges for are optional: a WrenSong Care Report (a plain-English translation of a facility's record) and Family Watch / Child Watch alerts. Neither is required to use WrenSong.
Do you cover childcare too, or just assisted living?
Both. WrenSong covers licensed Assisted Living homes and centers, and licensed Childcare homes and centers, with the same approach to sourcing and the same Trusted-badge concept applied to each (the childcare criteria include one additional, childcare-specific check — see the Trusted badge criteria).
How WrenSong Is Different
How is WrenSong different from A Place for Mom or other senior care referral sites?
The core difference is structural, not just tone: WrenSong never accepts referral or placement fees from any facility, for any family's decision. Sites built on that fee model are paid by the facility only when a family moves in — which means the facilities they show you are, by definition, limited to ones willing to pay a commission.
This isn't a hypothetical concern. In 2024, the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging opened an inquiry into A Place for Mom over potentially deceptive practices, after a Washington Post investigation found that a large share of the communities it prominently recommended had been cited by state regulators for care violations, and after reporting that referred families were frequently steered above their stated budget. WrenSong shows every licensed facility in its coverage area regardless of any business relationship, and no facility can pay to appear, rank higher, or be hidden.

Understanding a Facility's Page
What is the WrenSong Trusted badge, and how does a facility earn it?
The WrenSong Trusted badge is computed automatically from a facility's public Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) record — things like whether enforcement actions are fully resolved, whether there's been a large civil penalty recently, and whether the same type of deficiency has repeated across inspections. It's recalculated as new AZDHS records come in, using the same published criteria for every facility.
It cannot be purchased, upgraded, or influenced by claiming a profile or paying for any WrenSong plan — claimed and unclaimed, paying and free, are all evaluated exactly the same way.
If a facility doesn't have the Trusted badge, does that mean something's wrong?
Not necessarily. The badge requires passing every one of several specific, narrow criteria (for example, no repeat-category deficiency across consecutive inspections in the last 36 months). A facility can miss the badge by falling short on just one of those criteria, even with an otherwise unremarkable record — and a facility can also simply not have enough inspection history yet for the badge to apply.
The absence of a badge is not itself a finding, a warning, or a government designation of any kind. It means: review the facility's actual record on its page — that's the real information. The badge is a shortcut to a narrow set of criteria, not a summary judgment.
What does "Confirmed" mean next to an amenity?
An amenity marked Confirmed is one WrenSong has verified from the facility's own website or that its operator confirmed directly. We never guess — an amenity is not inferred from a facility's size, license type, category, or photos.
If an amenity isn't marked Confirmed, that does not mean the facility lacks it — it means we don't yet have a source that meets our confirmation standard. If a specific amenity matters to your decision, ask the facility directly.
How current is this information?
We check AZDHS records nightly for every facility we track, and update a facility's record whenever we detect a new inspection, enforcement action, or license change. Each facility page shows when its regulatory information was last checked.
WrenSong is not a real-time service, so there can be a short delay between something changing at AZDHS and it appearing here. Full details are on our How We Source Our Data page.
WrenSong Care Reports & Watch Alerts
What's the difference between the free facility page and a paid WrenSong Care Report?
A facility's page shows you the facts, for free: license status, inspections on record, enforcement actions, amenities, and more, straight from the public record. A WrenSong Care Report is the interpretation layer on top of those same facts — a plain-English translation of what the findings actually mean, whether any patterns repeat across inspections, and the specific questions worth asking on a visit to that facility.
What happens to my report after the 90 days ends?
It depends on how you purchased it. If you bought an individual report (or a multi-report pack), it stays in My Reports in your account indefinitely — the 90 days is simply a window during which WrenSong automatically checks for new regulatory activity and re-issues your report at no extra cost if anything changes.
If you purchased unlimited report access instead, that's a 90-day all-you-can-view pass: you can open any report during that window, but reports aren't retained afterward, and access ends when the 90 days is up.
What's the difference between a Report and a Watch subscription?
A WrenSong Care Report is a one-time (or 90-day-window) look at a facility's record as it stands today. A Watch subscription (Family Watch for assisted living, Child Watch for childcare) is ongoing: it monitors a small number of facilities you choose and alerts you the moment something changes in their official record — a new inspection, a violation, an enforcement action, or a license or ownership change — for as long as your subscription is active.
Current pricing for both is shown wherever you go to purchase a report or start a Watch subscription in the app, since it's the one place guaranteed to reflect what's actually being charged today.
Contacting a Facility
How do I contact a facility or ask about a tour?
You can message any facility directly through its WrenSong page — no phone tree, and no referral agent in between. If a facility has scheduled tour hours set up, you'll see a way to request one directly on its page; if not, sending a message is the way to reach them and ask.
What if I think something on a facility's page is wrong or outdated?
Public records can occasionally lag behind current reality, and our copies of them can too. If something on a WrenSong facility page looks inconsistent with the current AZDHS record, report it to us and we'll review it and correct any WrenSong error we find.
For Care Providers
How do I claim my facility's listing?
Search for your facility on WrenSong and use the claim option on its page, or start from Find and Claim Your Profile. You'll verify that you're authorized to manage the listing, and once claimed you can add a description, confirm amenities, add photos, and respond to family messages.
Does claiming or paying for a subscription affect my ranking or Trust Badge?
No — unambiguously. No facility can pay WrenSong to rank higher in search results, to receive more prominent placement, or to change its Trusted badge eligibility. Search order reflects how closely a facility matches a family's search criteria and its verified data, nothing else. Badge eligibility is computed the same way for every facility from public AZDHS records, whether that facility is claimed or unclaimed, paying or free.
The only way to appear more prominently is the same for every operator: claim your listing, confirm your amenities, and keep your record current. No payment substitutes for that. See What Payment Cannot Influence and the WrenSong Charter.
What's the difference between Free, Pro, Portfolio, and Founding Operator?
Every claimed facility — regardless of plan — can manage its profile and respond to family messages at no cost. Paid plans (Pro and Portfolio) add tools like tour/visit scheduling and activity alerts on your own facilities' AZDHS records, with Portfolio sized for operators managing more than one location. Founding Operator is a limited-time offer for operators who claim early.
Because plan pricing and features are actively evolving, current details and exact pricing are shown in your Owner Dashboard when you claim a facility or open the upgrade options there — that's the source that's always accurate.
Is there really no placement fee, ever?
Correct. WrenSong earns nothing when a family chooses a facility — no commission, no placement fee, no referral payment, no finder's fee, at any subscription level. Operator plans charge for tools (profile management, tour scheduling, alerts, visibility features), never for an outcome. That's a deliberate, published commitment, not a marketing line — see the WrenSong Charter.
